Deck Jak System for Butynol decks
Looking for an alternative to direct sticking tiles to a Butynol deck then Deck Jaks may be the answer. Deck Jaks are a clever system where tiles or suitable product are suspended above a membraned deck. The tiles sit on the jaks that are height adjustable. No adhesives or grouts are required and water simply passes through the "gaps in the tiles" and runs away to the normal drainage.
Tiles need to be at least 14mm thick to take the load of being suspended. Alternative solutions include various stone products or even wood slat systems. Current waterproofing regulations generally require a 100mm step down from an internal area out onto an external deck. The Deck Jak system can solve this step down problem by simplistically raising the deck up to be level with the internal floor - meeting the waterproofing requirements and preventing the obvious trip associated with this step down.

PS - many local bodies now will not allow you to direct stick tiles to an external membraned deck - they require the substrate to be able to be uplifted for inspection or repair if required - deck jaks could be the answer.
